Elevated Construction Services is a subsidiary of XL Construction. A commercial carpentry, specialties contractor serving General Contractors throughout the greater San Francisco Bay Area. Type of Work: Mass Timber Erection, Rough Carpentry, and Wood framing.
Title: Mass Timber Salesperson
Reports to: President
Responsibilities:
The Mass Timber Salesperson leads the efforts for the sourcing, analyzing, and closing on Project and Client development opportunities to meet Company Revenue and Backlog goals.
Business Acquisition Leadership
- Penetrates the construction industry throughout CA to generate mass timber project opportunities to support Elevated achieving its annual revenue targets.
- Targets general contractors, timber manufacturers, CM’s, designers, and engineers to generate mass timber project opportunities.
- Champions Elevated’s Business Acquisition Process (BAP) and ensures consistent application of BAP tools, processes, and behaviors.
- Evaluates Pursuit Go/No Go submissions, in partnership with President.
- Responsible for continuous improvement of Elevated’s sales processes that lead to sustained and higher “win rates”.
- Drives the development of new client relationships and strengthening relationships with existing clients.
- Identifies what Architect/Engineer firms to target based upon opportunities.
- Participation in Elevated networking venues.
- Ensures client satisfaction surveys are conducted, results shared and if required, support Elevated leadership in the development and implementation of client satisfaction improvement plans.
- Partners with leadership to develop comprehensive win strategies for “must-win“pursuits.
- Facilitates Elevated Client Management Program and coordinates with other team members who support Elevated.
- Maintains strong collaboration with Marketing and Communications to ensure the Elevated brand maintains visibility.
- Drives the identification and delivery of the knowledge of what our clients value to Marketing so we can truly differentiate Elevated proposals and interviews.
- Identify trade organizations that Elevated should participate in, including active participation on organization committees and boards, and recommend which Elevated employees should participate. Coordinates this effort with Marketing and takes a leadership position in at least one organization that has broad applicability to the majority to Elevated’s target markets.
Elevated Senior Leadership Team Member
- Participates in Elevated Leadership Team meetings to provide input into company matters.
- Participates in annual Company Business Planning.
- Provides timely Backlog and Pipeline reports, including market trends and Elevated performance against revenue and backlog goals.
- Tracks and creates accountability for Annual Revenue and Backlog goals.
- Development and maintenance of market specific Touch Matrix.
- Manage and maintain Mass Timber forecasting and reporting data.
Talent Development
- Serves as Catalytic Coach or formal mentor to select Operations Team members for development of Business Acquisition (BA) skills.
- Identifies select XLC Operations staff who are ready for baseline BA skills training (BAP) or additional BA skills training beyond the baseline (e.g. Selling Value, Becoming a Trusted Advisor).
- Drives development and iterative improvement of BA processes and related training, including serving as a trainer for topics that would benefit from personal involvement.
Education / Training / Experience
- 7+ years in operational & Business Acquisition roles in the construction, logging, forestry, or other timber related business, with at least 3+ years of experience in sales, with significate responsibility for and participation in building new relationships and acquiring work.
- Well established industry relationships, including with clients, GCs, mass timber manufacturing and industry partners, engineers, and designers.
- Active participation in key industry organizations.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Strong business acumen with respect to Elevated’s targeted markets and overall industry.
- Ability to anticipate future trends, undertake data driven analysis, and develop, articulate, and implement strategies that will differentiate Elevated in its market.
- Demonstrated strength in executing well targeted business acquisition opportunities.
- Analyzes potential pursuits and focuses on best opportunities.
- Develop and implement client and project pursuit strategies.
- Strong track record of closing on such opportunities.
- Experienced with Mass Timber building types and complexity necessary to support Elevated current targeted markets and project types as well as future growth plans.
- Strong industry reputation is desired.
- Design and application of successful strategies to win new clients and projects.
